Microalgae Cultivation Lab Tech

This position will perform chemical analyses of cultivation media and water sources to ensure optimal production. To be successful in this role, you will need excellent documentation and record-keeping skills and a background in a lab environment, agriculture, aquaculture, or farming.

Hours

Full-time, Schedule TBD | 6:00am-2:30pm

Location

Kailua-Kona, Big Island

Pay

$22 to $25 an hour

Responsibilities

• Analyze cultivation media and water sources such as nutrient analyses, pond data, and harvest processing data.
• Maintain optimal microalgae culture condition through daily monitoring and adjustments.
• Identify culture health and harvesting issues and recommend solutions.
• Perform timely and accurate data-entry of all information. Update cultivation and production protocols.
• Maintain accurate inventory of all materials and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in algal production, aquaculture or farming is preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license to be certified to operate forklifts, Sky Trak, and tractors.
• Knowledge of basic plumbing/electrical/construction preferred.
• Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work individually and with part of a team.
• Ability to pass pre-employment state and federal background check and drug test.
