Accountant

A dynamic, locally owned electric company is seeking a meticulous and analytical Accountant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to continued success and growth while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and improving accounting processes. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in accounting principles and Sage software.

Full-time, Monday to Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Pay

$60,000 to $75,000 a year

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger entries.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Utilize Sage accounting software to streamline accounting processes, customize reports, and optimize system functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Stay updated on changes to accounting regulations, tax laws, and Sage software updates, and implement necessary adjustments accordingly.
• Participate in internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as needed.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the accounting function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with Sage accounting software or similar program.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial record-keeping.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
