"Before I knew it, I was Hawaii bound!"  When I found myself with an empty nest, I knew my time for adventure had come. Having been a nurse for over twenty years, I had honed my skills in intensive care, telemetry and other units at several acute care facilities. I began to accept travel assignments which included New York City and Las Vegas. My life has been full of adventure and excitement and meeting new people. A nurse friend that I had met on assignment called and said Aloha. She had taken a contract with Altres Medical and wanted me to join her. She spoke highly of the friendly treatment and ohana feeling she was getting from Altres Medical. It didn't take much convincing; I picked up the phone and contacted Tim Pugh, travel recruiter. Before I knew it, I was Hawaii bound.Upon arrival at the Honolulu airport, I was met by my recruiter with a lei greeting and driven to my housing. What a way to begin. I like the idea of having a local agency to call home base. I can drop off my timecards, pick up my pay check and review my schedule. I have to go back to the mainland to welcome a new grandchild in October but my plans are to return to work with Altres Medical as soon as I can. My experiences with Altres Medical and the hospital I have been assigned have been positive and I look forward to coming back home to the islands. |
