 Shani Silva, ALTRES Staffing manager, spoke with KITV 4 This Morning's Mahealani Richardson recently. As the local economy cycles downward, many organizations are restructuring, downsizing and cutting costs. Here are some strategies for keeping your job:
1. Attendance and punctuality
- This is a basic in being professional.
- In this down economy, you can't afford to NOT be at work.
2. Attitude: Be positive
- Be willing to share ideas and show enthusiasm for your work and your team.
- In these times, employees need to be able to adapt to the company's needs.
3. Be flexible
- Be flexible and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
- Complete tasks beyond your job description.
- Help co-workers finish projects and volunteer to assist with future assignments.
4. Diversify your skills
- Are there skills/subjects you can learn that will make you more valuable?
- Take a class, read a book, keep up with trade publications related to your industry.
