Hawaii Smoke-Free Law
 The Hawaii State Legislature recently passed a comprehensive "Smoke-Free" Law, aimed at protecting the public health and welfare by prohibiting smoking in places open to the public and places of employment.

Complying with the new law involves following a few easy steps:
Communicate the new law to your employees
The law prohibits smoking in all enclosed or partially enclosed public places and places of employment. As defined in the measure, “enclosed or partially enclosed” means any area closed in by a roof or overhang and two walls and includes, but is not limited to, restrooms, lobbies, lanais, interior courtyards, patios and covered walkways.
Post clearly legible signs
Signs must include the words “Smoking Prohibited by Law” (minimum one-inch letters) or the international “No Smoking” symbol (consisting of a pictorial representation of a burning cigarette enclosed in a red circle with a red bar across it) at the entrance to every public place and place of employment where smoking is prohibited. Additional signs can be downloaded and printed as needed from the ALTRES website link above.
