Special Olympics Hawaii Chief Operating Officer Dan Epstein, athlete Ian Kahalewai, ALTRES Director of Corporate Philanthropy Siana Hunt
A recent visitor to our Honolulu headquarters highlighted the power of giving. Ian Kahalewai, an athlete and youth leader in Special Olympics Hawaii, was on hand to accept a $7,000 donation from ALTRES.
Ian shared how Special Olympics Hawaii helped transform him from a “shy boy” to a confident young adult leading a new generation of athletes. Dan Epstein of Special Olympics Hawaii impressed our employees with the scope of the work the organization does, year-round and statewide.
They host athletic competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as sports training, health and nutrition classes, and social events. Our donation will go towards the cost of transportation, meals, and jerseys for athletes. But most importantly, we will help make a difference in peoples’ lives.
“Hearing about the impact of our giving from Dan and Ian is motivation for our ALTRES team to continue to raise the bar for good,” said ALTRES Director of Corporate Philanthropy Siana Hunt.
“We are inspired by the work of Special Olympics Hawaii and the numerous opportunities that they provide to bring out the very best in our community.”
The $7,000 donation was raised during a fun-filled Halloween celebration in which our departments hosted games, sold treats, and competed for prizes. Check out the video and you’ll see it’s serious fun!
A highlight of the year at ALTRES, the Fall FUNdraiser increases employee well-being, encourages engagement, and builds camaraderie through friendly competition, all while raising funds for a good cause!
