We’d like to introduce Chantel Maslanka, Branch Manager at our Kailua-Kona office. Chantel joined the ALTRES Ohana in 2002 and has many years of staffing and recruiting experience. She is also a certified Professional in HR (PHR). Her eagerness to continually grow and learn and her dedication to our clients makes Chantel a valued part of the ALTRES team.
How did you find your way into a career in the staffing industry / with ALTRES?
I was looking for work and heard about ALTRES Staffing. I called and scheduled an appointment to apply and see what job opportunities were available. At the time, the Branch Manager was looking for an in-house Office Coordinator and offered me the job. Shortly after starting, there was an opening for a Personnel Manager and I was offered the promotion. I’m proud to say that I have been with ALTRES ever since.
What is your role at ALTRES? Describe a typical day on the job.
As a Branch Manager, I am responsible for supporting both our clients and employees. Each day, I work closely with our clients to learn about their staffing needs and help them find qualified employees. I also follow up with our clients to ensure that employees arrive to work on time and address any questions or concerns they may have. Throughout the day I’m interviewing applicants, discussing available opportunities, and filling job order requests.
What qualities or skills are essential to be a successful Personnel / Branch Manager?
To be a successful manager, one must have integrity, good communication, and excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
How have you grown personally and professionally since joining ALTRES?
When I started in 2002, I was new to the staffing industry and had a lot to learn. Over the years I acquired knowledge and many new skills that helped me grow as an individual and as a professional. This growth provided me with the opportunity to be an on-site HR Manager for one of our staffing clients, an HR Specialist for the Big Island, and a Branch Manager. I’m continuously learning new skills that help me to be successful in my role.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my free time, I enjoy golfing, reading, baking, and arts and crafts.
