Rowena’s extensive background in the hospitality industry means she knows all about providing great customer service and brings this high level of dedication to all of our clients.

How did you find your way into a career in the staffing industry / with ALTRES?

I was looking for a career change. After 15+ years in the hospitality/hotel industry, I figured it was time for me to find that work-life balance I was craving. Initially, I was hired by ALTRES as a Personnel Manager, but within a few weeks I was promoted to Branch Manager!

What qualities or skills are essential to be a successful Branch Manager?

There really never is a typical day on the job, so to be successful in this role you need to be prepared for all kinds of surprises. That means being your best when problems occur and not crumbling under pressure. Also, I find it’s helpful to have really great listening and communication skills.

What is the most challenging and most rewarding thing about your job?

Challenges are simply opportunities. Every day I have a chance to change someone’s life, someone’s business. It comes with great responsibility, but it’s a challenge that I accept willingly. It has been extremely rewarding to not only establish great working relationships with our clients and candidates, but to also gain their trust in the process.

Do you have any success stories you’d like to share?

One of my most memorable success stories has to be the opening of the Maui office. Since we set up shop in Kahului over eight years ago, it’s truly been a reward to watch how quickly and successfully our Maui branch has grown. Through the years I have built many great relationships with many employees and employers on the island.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Work/life balance has been such a blessing. First and foremost, I enjoy winding down to the beautiful Maui beach sunsets with family and friends. And if I’m not doing that, you can always find me in the kitchen. I love to cook and spend most of my days preparing feasts to share with others.
