We are seeking a part-time account/bookkeeper to assist our non-profit client. This role involves managing day-to-day bookkeeping activities, preparing financial statements, supporting budgeting and grant reporting, and assisting with audits. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about the non-profit sector.

Duration: This is a temporary 2-3 month assignment with the possibility of extension. Schedule: 3 days a week, 5 hours a day Hybrid: Open to some work from home days once trained Parking: provided

Pay

$50 an hour, Parking is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic planning.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and receipts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage bank deposits.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the organization's budget.
  • Prepare reports for management, donors, and grant funders.
  • Track and report on the financial aspects of grants, ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
  • Assist with grant budget preparation and reporting.
  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and file tax returns and other required financial documents.
  • Assist in the preparation for audits, ensuring all financial records are organized and accessible.
  • Respond to auditor inquiries and implement audit recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping in a non-profit environment.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, including accrual accounting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance preferred.
