We are seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee health and safety compliance across construction and/or industrial projects. This role is responsible for ensuring adherence to OSHA and other safety regulations, conducting inspections, leading training initiatives, and fostering a strong safety culture among all workers and contractors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to preventing workplace accidents while ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.

$115,000 to $135,000 a yearResponsibilities
- Implement and enforce the site-specific Safety and Health Plan (SSHP).
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and other applicable safety standards.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and root cause analyses; recommend corrective actions.
- Provide safety orientation and ongoing training for employees and subcontractors.
- Maintain safety records, logs, and daily reports; prepare required documentation for audits.
- Act as liaison with regulatory agencies and support site management during inspections.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate emergency response plans and drills.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe functioning of safety equipment.
- Promote a culture of safety through engagement, communication, and positive reinforcement.
Qualifications
- OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour certification (Construction or General Industry).
- EM 385-1-1 training strongly preferred (for government/military projects).
- First Aid/CPR certification required.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in construction or industrial safety (government/military project experience a plus).
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
- Ability to investigate, document, and resolve safety concerns with professionalism and accuracy.
