We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team and support the organization’s financial operations. This role plays an important part in ensuring compliance with GAAP, managing daily transactions, and providing timely reporting that supports leadership decision-making. The Staff Accountant will work closely with a friendly and professional Managing Director and collaborate within a small, supportive finance team. This is a full-time position based in Honolulu with flexible scheduling options within normal business hours.

- Receive, process, and deposit all accounts receivables.
- Review, process, and pay invoices and monthly obligations.
- Monitor expenses for proper classification and documentation.
- Perform monthly reconciliations for bank, credit, and investment accounts.
- Maintain prepaid account.
- Maintain and replenish petty cash account.
- Conduct daily banking activities.
- Reconcile all bank, investment, and credit accounts.
- Assist with management of employee benefits, including health insurance and retirement.
- Assist with preparation for annual financial audit and other program audits.
- Prepare vendor G.E.T. and 1099-MISC tax forms.
- Post and balance entries to general and subsidiary ledgers.
- Assist with employee benefits administration, including health insurance and retirement plans.
- Support annual financial and programmatic audits.
- Prepare 1099s and other tax-related forms.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent work experience.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred.
- Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel proficiency required).
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Flexible, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a diverse environment.
- Offer contingent upon clearing a federal/state background check, TB clearance (within 2 years), and Hep B vaccination.
