A local technology-focused organization is seeking a detail-oriented HR Technical Writer to support the documentation of a new or evolving HR application interface. This role partners closely with HR subject matter experts, UX/UI designers, and technical teams to transform complex workflows and interface designs into clear, structured documentation for internal and external audiences.

The ideal candidate has strong technical writing experience, a solid understanding of HR processes, and the ability to communicate complex concepts in an accessible way. This role plays a key part in ensuring system clarity, usability, and long-term maintainability.

This role will work primarily remote; however candidates must reside on Oahu in case any issues arise that require being in office as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain detailed Application Interface Design Documents (AIDD) for HR-related systems and tools.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT, UX/UI, and development teams to understand application functionality, workflows, and business requirements.
  • Document interface components including screen layouts, navigation paths, data fields, user roles, and permissions.
  • Develop wireframe annotations, interface specifications, and interaction descriptions.
  • Ensure documentation is clear, consistent, and accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Review, revise, and update documentation based on stakeholder feedback and system changes.
  • Assist in developing supplementary materials such as user guides, training documentation, and FAQs.
  • Adhere to internal documentation standards, version control, and quality guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in technical writing for enterprise applications, HR systems, or complex software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, terminology, and system workflows.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX concepts, wireframes, and design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Experience using documentation tools such as Confluence, MadCap Flare, Microsoft Word, Visio, or comparable platforms.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies and system integration concepts is a plus.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM) preferred.
  • Offer contingent upon completing a two-step TB clearance, as required prior to start of employment.
