This Payroll/Benefits Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of the organization's payroll and benefits. In this role, you'll respond to employees' questions and problems regarding their total compensation and perform customer service functions that reflect the company's core values. Will also manage the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and third-party sick leave.

- Ability to complete all tasks required for the processing of payroll to ensure timely and accurate payment to employees.
- Maintains all payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data on company's data processing software.
- Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverages, savings deductions, and dept./division assignments.
- Timely processes all court ordered child support, garnishment forms and payments, and benefits billings that include medical, dental, life, long-term disability premiums, and retirement plans.
- Contacts respective supervisors and/or employees for any missing information or for clarification of any conflicting information received.
- Maintains all payroll operations by following the policies and procedures established by the company.
- Determines payroll liabilities by calculating employees', federal and state income, social security taxes, and any co-payments of elected benefits and employer's social security, unemployment, workers compensation, insurance(s), and pension payments
- Reconciles federal, FICA, state, and unemployment tax payments to ensure data processing reports are accurate.
- Reconciles withheld taxes and gross earnings for quarterly tax reporting, annual W2 processing, 3rd party leave, and any other fringe benefits.
- Issues manual payroll checks for non-standard payments.
- Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests, then documents responses for payroll and personnel files as needed.
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information, documents the results of the research conducted, and distributes copies to respective employee and payroll file.
- Provides administrative support and assistance with the processing of HRIS data to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Qualifications
- BA in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Business.
- 2-3 years minimum work experience in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Payroll, or Benefits experience required.
- Direct payroll processing experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ceridian Dayforce experience is a plus.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must have access to a vehicle and a valid drivers' license and current auto insurance.
