A high-end resort on the Kona coast is looking for an experienced Cook to work alongside their executive chefs, assisting in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and producing a top notch culinary experienced for all guests.

This is a full-time position with 40 hours a week. Schedule flexibility is a must.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.
• Exemplify culinary standards of conduct as defined by the Executive Chef.
• Work at all of the line stations, including sauté, grill, pizza station, pantry, banquet and action stations.
• Prepare food of exemplary quality following verbal or written instructions, pick-up charts, plating production guides and portion standards, per tickets from Servers.
• Prep station ahead of time for service according to business levels.
• Assist in preparing menus for banquets and catering and all special occasions as directed.
• Minimize food waste and execute plan for food that needs to be used up.
• Act as Sous Chef in absence of the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef or Sous Chef.
• Professionally address questions, requests or demands from front of the house and back of the house.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years culinary experience or equivalent.
• Driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Able to lift up to 70lbs.
• Must be highly skilled with culinary techniques, such as butchery, stocks and sauces, meat cookery, fish and seafood preparations, as well as food safety and sanitation.
• Able to read recipes and re-produce them accurately as well as understand standard measurements, temperatures and proper food handling procedures.
• Flexibility to work varied schedules.
• Ability to follow detailed verbal and/or written instructions.
• Comfortable standing for long periods of time, and able to regularly bend, kneel and lift supplies as needed.
